Where did they go ?

I'm down in 90B and in all my travels I haven't spotted any large Winter groups of Turkeys in their usual places but I have seen some small groups (1/2 dozen birds maybe ?) here and there. My guess is due to the mild Winter they don't feel compelled to "gather up", which I always thought was genetically programed into them but are instead staying on their normal turf.

Think the mild winter lessen the need for animals do their normal coping habits. Was surprised some what to see a number of robins on the front lawn while Willie was predicting an early spring.

I hunt the family farm in 90A, and the last time I was up there 1 1/2 weeks ago I saw 2 flocks with 20+ birds in each flock.
Thats about the normal size winter flock we usually see there.

well I typically see no birds at all from fall to spring, and it is the same this year. I don't know where they winter but they are gone again this winter.

For years I have had a number of spots south of Ancaster where it was a sure thing to find numerous flocks, commonly 25+ birds. This year I have had 2 sightings, both 6-8 birds, I may have missed a few as the ones off in the distance certainly do not stand out with no snow on the ground. I think that with no snow they have an easier job of finding natural food and do not have to venture out on the large open fields to forage.

Still haven't seen any but yesterday evening they were making noise as they were roosting in the Pines beyond the pond at the back of my house.

lots of turkeys kicking around where i am. 2 more months!

Finally spotted a flock on my neighbours property of approx. 15-20 birds, it was hard to count as they were running towards the woods.

ya, that must suck having turkeys roosting behind your house, lol.

But seriously, it must be nice to see them just being turkeys outside hunting season not wanting to shoot at one. For many of us we only get to see them once in a while when its go time and never have the chance to just enjoy them. I haven't seen many this year and less every year. I remember being able to go scouting and being able to sit and watch them for a bit before the season opened. numbers seem lower in my area.
