Crappie Reports? Anyone out yet?
Good afternoon!
Just bought a fishing kayak for this year. I'm all geared up and ready to get some spring Crappie. I'm not far from Jeanette's Creek - that's where I've fished for them in the past,...been a few years. I know we're getting close. Are they real active yet? Anyone been out and having luck?

I think you've already missed the best crappie spring fishing by a good three weeks. They are now in post spawn mode for most areas.

Really? I thought they preferred the water to be a bit warmer. Isn't thw water only in the mid 50s right now...I thought low 60s was optimal.

Maybe others can report, but the isolated lagoons and back bays were 16 degrees when I fished a good three weeks ago in the Kawarthas. I'm pretty sure the spawn is over as they are not shallow anymore from what I've heard.

The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.
