Last year, I embarked on a small project to transform my land into a more effective hunting property by making it a better deer habitat.

What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.

Okay article - except for the "plant in the last half of July". You might get away with that this year as its very wet. But not usually. Get the seeds in the ground in may/june. I usually plant a few oat grass patches about labour day. The deer will keep these grazed off until the snow covers them.

I would love to plant a food plot except I lack 2 essential components: time and money.

An oat grass plot costs about 18 bucks and takes 5 minutes - if you already have a small clearing - 10 yards across. Just hand-seed the bag of oats in the clearing in early September.
