    Question Hunting WMU 78C,D,E

New Hunter here. For the deer tag I got:
    Huntcode:836(not sure what this means)
    WMU78C,D,E
    Antlered Only
    Bow Only

Looking at the Map it seems with this tag I can only get a buck with my bow on someone's farm or like a golf course right?
Does anyone know of any areas where they allow bow hunting in these WMUs?

If you have a tag it is valid for a buck in any WMU in Ontario. Where 78 is concerned C,D,E are essentially private land only and very difficult to get permission unless you know someone. With your valid buck tag i would probs head to public land somewhere in Simcoe County, Dufferin County or Grey County as that is the closest you are going to find public land relatively close to 78. Personally i would scope SVCA conservation as they have some very good properties that are free and less than 2 hours from the GTA.
The wilderness is not a stadium where I satisfy my ambition to achieve, it is the cathedral where I worship.

    Welcome to he Forum Arsenyev.

    The 836 code means :

You have APPLIED and got an Additional deer tag .

Additional deer tag makes you eligible to hunt a second deer.

You should have bought already the main tag.I am not sure if You bought the main tag though- I never bought additional deer tag PRIOR buying a main tag(thus not sure how SWITCHING SEQUENCES of tag purchases works). If you bought ONLY the Additional deer tag(code 836)then You hunt only buck, only bow, only bow season, only there).

On Your main tag-You can harvest a buck ANYWHERE in Ontario-with bow. Permission-access etc is another topic here.
No application and draw required for the main tag-just to buy it.
Then You can harvest a buck ANYWHERE in Ontario(EXCEPT-where there is NO deer season open-or where there is a CONTROLLED DEER season open -for a period of THAT time). You can NOT hunt that time(unless you APPLIED and was drawn for Controlled deer too-which is another topic).

That flexibility is why generally EVERYONE buys the main tag "first"( it is also needed for certain applications later -but that is another topic). Then if they desire, have place and time-people buy ADDITIONAL deer tag. Those tags have MANY limitations-but are handy to harvest"another deer"or hold the main tag for gun hunt/controlled hunt .Again-combinations are endless .

If you got the 2 tags.2 deer for you .
You can party hunt too with your tag(tags)but that is ANOTHER topic.

As far as WHERE to hunt 78-i can not advise.
But i would be very careful to count on Golf courses(unless you know someone who is ELIGIBLE to let you hunt a golf course-and You obtain permission on paper)i would be very hesitant to hunt any of them. They are generally not meant to have multi use(but i can be wrong-Maybe late in the season-when no golfing anymore- they do allow thinning the herd). You will NEED to find all that our BEFORE hunting any of them golf courses.

    Good luck

Yeah ofc I know, you need permission but that's basically what I was trying to understand so only if I have a my own private land in that area or got permission from someone. (I guess like a farm or something).
And yes this is an additional deer tag.
But yeah just new to all this, first year deer hunting and I'm pretty excited.
Thank you so much for all the information guys.
Good luck this year to you all as well
