Cutovers produce big game, memories
https://oodmag.com/cutovers-produce-big-game-memories/
Many memories have been made hunting in cutovers. Logged areas produce big game and lifelong memories. Hopefully there will be more to come.
What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.
-- "The Circus Animals’ Desertion" by William Butler Yeats

In modern times, probably more moose have been shot in cutovers than any other setting. Good visibility and feed makes for good hunting. Older cuts can also be good places as the vegetation increases which adds security and fewer hunters venture into them.
A true sportsman counts his achievements in proportion to the effort involved and the fairness of the sport. - S. Pope
