Rifle Moose Season is Upon Us
Setting up camp this evening. I have to work tomorrow so won’t get a free day of bird hunting. The weather is supposed to be fine with some morning lows below freezing next week.
It doesn’t appear that many of the remaining forum members hunt moose, but good luck to those that are heading out. (I suppose that, by now, any moose hunters south of the French River hunting up north have already hit the road).

Drove home from Sudbury to Southern Ontario yesterday. It was a steady stream of moose rigs heading north. Some groups seem to have taken everything including the kitchen sink with them. Must take days to pack and unpack some of those trailers.
Hope people have good weather, fun with the group and hopefully some success

HI Fish Hog,
With our portable camp we built it takes a day to set up and a day to take down.
We normally go for ten days which gives us 1 day for scouting and bird hunting before the opener.
Seems like a lot of work but well worth
Good luck to all who are moose hunting this year,

I just got back from 6 days bow hunting way up 12+ hours from Toronto. Loads of birds but unfortunately only 2 moose sightings from far off and things did not line up for anyone in our group to get a crack at one. Still good to catch a glimpse. Loads of bears around too. Every old logging road we were on was covered with scat.

Just on the way back from area 4. Weather was a little on the warmer side with high winds the fist two days, Monday morning was calm and right at zero and one of the group managed to call out a young bull and be successful in taking it. Rest of the week we only got a glimpse of one just inside the tree line and could not confirm it to be the needed cow. We did manage to get many grouse and limit out on walleye. All in all we had a very productive week when other groups at the camp did not. Best of luck to all those who are out with this week promising better hunting weather.

Has too much time on their hands
My brother and his group are up in the Ear Falls area right now: they usually have some success.
Then I just have to make a trip home to get a few pounds, lol!
