The company that owns Peavey Mart, a popular retailer for farmers, anglers, and hunters, announced it will close all 96 stores nationwide.
What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.

I stop in on occasion when I am in Kemptville or Orleans, but I have always found their prices 10% higher than anyone else and ammunition almost 25% higher. I buy the occasional item from them I got some Chainsaw bar oil a few weeks ago for 16 bucks. Over all I never found them that great. Never ever saw more than 2 other people at any given time.

I was a regular customer when it was TSC. Walking through their store ,to me, was like thumbing through an Old Farmer's Almanac. There was a certain "comfort" that was hard to describe,at least, for this country kid. After it was taken over by Peavy, something changed. I'm not sure how to describe it,but, the merchandise didn't seem to have the same quality and the atmosphere felt a bit "off".

I also loved it as TSC and not as much with the changes. However, if there was some unusual, small hardware item that I only needed 1 or 2 of and could not find anywhere, off I went to Brantford and there it was. Only problem then was how much time it took me to get to the checkout as I always ended up going up and down every aisle just looking. They still had some of that atmosphere that trimmer21 described so well. Change is inevitable and I often hate it. I missed TSC and now I will miss Peavey Mart.
