Default Censorship is killing OOD forum

Censorship and banning members from participation is a great way to keep membership low.

I've been cruising this forum for a few months and I have to say, it's dead and I'm starting to think the admin/mods have had a hand in that.

After today's display from admin/mods towards a certain long standing member, I'm pretty much done here until Mr. Gilroy is given full forum access.

    Cheers,
    BGBill

so with 20 post to get into the off topic forum than the rest in the off topic forum and berating the site well don't let the door hit you in the back side will submit your request to be deleted from the forum ASAP.
Would be nice to get back to a few quality outdoors people than constant bemoaning of the politically centric kind.

And that's all you'll have left, here,FFF,a very, very few, lots of sandbaggers, but, very few posters if you keep this up. Good luck keeping a forum going with that approach. Here we have a new member expressing his opinion and your approach is "don't let the door hit you on the way out"? With all due respect,FFF,if this is "gettin' to you",maybe it's time for you to pull the plug.
If a tree falls on your ex in the woods and nobody hears it,you should probably still get rid of your chainsaw. Just sayin'....

You seem to be under the impression I run the show here. Let me assure you that my actions are not alone and always to the subject of Admin approval.

I missed all the hubbub so I went and read the locked thread. FFF accused Gilly of going off topic as the reason he locked it, but in fact Gilly was just giving a direct reply to Trimmer who had chimed in on the thread. If you are going to lock threads, at least give a legitimate reason for doing so.

I think this forum is getting away from what it originally was. Post some pics of fish and game and some techniques you used and forget about all the others things and this forum will come back to what it was. Admin has some sort of job to do and you won’t make everyone happy regardless of the reason. Let’s just simplify things.

Right on Tom Gobble! I've been after Admin to get rid of all "Off Topic" forums for years now.
It is a tough job keeping disturbers at bay. I believe without the "Off Topics" we would certainly go back to Ontario Out Doors topics with some new members and without the old ones that are here for "Off Topics" only.

The off topic section and politicts have for years been the main driver of traffic on here and driven readership, along with the main hunting sections.

If you have a firearms section, naturally politicts leak into it.

What I have seen happen is that long time members especially were not appreciated and the folks running the show have maybe forgotten THE MEMBERS ARE THE FORUM without the members there is nothing.

If you have a political section then you must be painfully aware it will be passionate and polaized, JUST LOOK AT THE HOUSE OF COMMONS ANY DAY OF THE WEEK.

I have seen the moderators on here harder on the membership than the Speaker is in the house. LOL

    I agree.

If it's there than users will use it politics can get heated some stay out of it. Hunting, guns and politics will always be intertwined with each other. Unfortunately politics like to use tragedies to push their own agendas. While they punish the average person from a few small minded individuals actions.

I think it's unfair. Like the latest grab using a 3 decade old case to justify its current actions . Or if it becomes too popular.

What kills discussions is the lack of respect towards others who voice differing opinions. People need to learn how to debate by discussing the issue and not attacking the individual.

People also need to understand that if you continuously insult a person, you will likely never convince them that you are right.
