Was a prefect time to go after them as wanted to be in and out before the long weekend traffic started to fill in. Played out as expected hoping the gopro caught the action. If you wish watch the vid and come on the hunt with me. So the recording starts with a hen coming down from her roost right behing me. Wished the sound was picked up better as she gave a great lesson on how to call. Reason why I was quiet. Vid could of been 20 min shorter as to the left a hen and 2 sub jakes landed in the field to the left. Knowing there was a least 2 more jakes wanted to wait until the dom bird came out of the forest.
Not a big bird nubs for spurs and a tuft of beard but going to make for some good eats.
Feeling to lazy to post proper pics for the contest but hey Lenny I'll take an honourable mention for a 2 birds season.
Nice vid and bird congrats. Time to go fishing for you.

2025 BIG GOBBLER FUN CONTEST - Leaderboard
So we had TurkeyWes home for the weekend and he brought his plus one… both determined to go turkey hunting…
We get to field I’ve been scouting for the last week knowing he was coming home and may only get one trip to the turkey woods…
Cold and windy, but no bugs as we huddle into the doghouse blind I’ve set up in preparation..
Cloudy, but it is getting brighter, then the gobbling starts, we’re on the X… trying to get Wes on a couple of birds that have been slipping me for 2 weeks… the cold has them talking, and when we watched them last night no hens… we had our lone hen out, no Jakes or Tom decoys as I’ve watched them move away when competing birds show up..
So I have Wes oriented to the back of the blind through a window… Lo and behold they fly out of the trees to the field behind us and the quiet hustle happens in the blind. Wes has to manoeuvre himself and the gun safely to a window 90 degrees from where he started…
He lines a bird up and one shot and the bird’s down….
One morning get out this season and he made it work… yay Dad for scouting the crap out of these fields…
1 1/4 inch spur, couple hairs at the 10 inch mark, same size bird as my first one
Last trip to the turkey fields for us this year…
TurkeyJohn out…

that is a really nice bird TurkeyWes. Sounds like a quick hunt as well. Did a similar hunt on deer a few years back for my son. scouted out the spot built the blind and he gets to show up and shoot a deer, says what's so hard about deer hunting.

FIN nice video and hunt. I noticed you left your gun behind. I did that once left the bird lay and put gun away. I turn back to bird and it gets up and starts to run. Good thing I was only a few feet away and was looking at it when it got up had to tackle it.

Ya that bird was stoned. The gopro makes it look like a further shot than it was. I've too had a "dead" bird get up so not a bad idea to walk up to it loaded until you can step on its head.
