A MNR proposal to amend the CFSA would remove regulatory hurdles to create roads, utility corridors, and enable mining.
What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.

If the new roads will be closed for public access-as many times they are...what is the good in this news for the outdoors people ?

To allow wolves to run down moose and caribou?

I don’t expect to see a noticeable difference in the woods. Currently, if a utility wants to construct a new power line across Crown land, they require a permit to cut the right of way. Going forward they won’t require a permit but will have to follow the “yet-to-be developed”regulations to do it. Permits take time to process (red tape) but aren’t development killers.

In short, don’t expect to see a rash of new mines, power lines and roads as a result of this amendment.
