Classic summer lakers
https://oodmag.com/classic-summer-lakers/
Summer lakers inhabit the depths of these inland lakes — big, hard-hitting, bulldogging, good-eating lake trout.
What can I but enumerate old themes,
First that sea-rider Oisin led by the nose
Through three enchanted islands, allegorical dreams,
Vain gaiety, vain battle, vain repose,
Themes of the embittered heart, or so it seems.
-- "The Circus Animals’ Desertion" by William Butler Yeats

Good read! I fished the Lakers in Lake Of Bays with monel (steel line) in the 60's and 70's every August. Did very well and feel if I went back in this day and age, I could use the same patterns in the same trolls and do well. Sometimes gut feel and experience trumps sonar and downriggers.

Yes it is a good read.
I would fish lakers more but
I like eating salmon and rainbow better.
