Very cool, I already have the perfect stream in mind to try this. I think I know what I want my wife to get me for my birthday now.

Also I seen a bamboo version of these at the dollar store last summer. I didn't pay any attention to it at the time, but if they have them again this year I'll pick one up to play with.

I love that fly jar. I should look around for something like that for decoration in the house. Also love the leather wallet they have. 160 bucks seems a bit steep for a crappie pole tho.

The price does seem a bit high for a pole. But nothing is cheap these days. Anyone ever try tying a line the the end of an old rod? That might be a budget solution to tenkara fishing.

wow. I remember seeing those rods in Cabela's catalogs when I was a kid, like 20+ years ago.

The line came out the back of the handle and there were a couple hooks on the side of the largest section to store your line.

I'm pretty sure this will work, but I can get an old gl2 rod for that price.

A true Tenkara rod is so expensive because they telescopic (from 20" to 11-15 feet in length is pretty impressive) and is very tapered (solid at one end, and very lightweight at the other). I'm really interested in trying this out (because I can't seem to master fly fishing with a reel), but the price is too steep for me.

$90 USD for a complete setup (including flies) isn't too steep and it gets you into the sport
