    Default Colbourne Lake

About eight of us hit Colbourne lake this morning (10am) Had a great lunch but boy was that wind fearsome. Nice and sunny but the lake lies east/west and the wind was coming right from the far end. Lotsa ice, bit of slush under the snow. One bite, the four year old fell in a hole and got wet, came home early, skunked again....
More rain coming later this week, should be good by next week-end

    Hey Pat

I've fished that lake before. It can be finicky, to say the least. We used to fish the small part of the lake where the culvert flows under the road - (on the LHS if your coming from the city of Cardiff)...

One afternoon we caught five or six - and lost a few more. Another time we got nothing. The ice can be sketchy in this place though - you've likely fished it, so you know what I mean.

    Keep at 'em.

I did hear from a crew working on the highway that there was quite a run of rainbow in that creek last summer

I'm looking at trying this lake soon. Any advice as far as water depths in this lake? I'm going in blind so any advice would help.

I remember the deepest part of the lake is on the north side of the island just off the old boathouse. We turn last or right from the public launch and fish along the shoreline or go over to the far shore and do the same thing. Shallow water east of the island, typical shallow water bass lake.....
i would just check existing holes for blood....normal practice on a new lake.

Use a worm and a minnow. Small jighead and minnow on botton then a drop shot with a chunk of worm. Minnow moves and wiggles the worm. Almost all fish will come off the worm ! Be quick they bite and run
    Rip yanken em!!
