Shimano Stradic CI4~anyone here use them?
Got my latest Bass Pro catalog in the mail recently, and was admiring this reel. I'm about due for a new spinning reel and have never owned a "good" one. At about $225, it's more than twice what I've spent in the past on a reel..but hey, I'm worth it. Any online reports I've read have been very positive.

I've been eyeing it for quite a while. Only reason I haven't pulled the trigger is I've been waiting to see the new Pflueger patriarch in a comparable size to the ci4 2500. Stock has been slow to the market - atleast where I have been looking.
The price tag is about the same..weight is very close (within .6oz I belive), but the pflueger comes with a spare spool...decisions decisions..

I hear you~I've been fishing Pfluegers exclusively for the past 3 years (Presidents) and think they're great reels for the money. (under $75 with a spare spool) I looked at the Patriarch in the Bass Pro catalog too. Can't say it looks as nice as the Stradic, but I won't buy the Stradic until I've held one of those...unless they take too long to get here.
Bass Pro in Vaughan is apparently sold out of CI4s, which I find odd. I haven't held one of those yet either. Trying to hash through some of the decision-making process first...see what people think of them.
Thanks for everyone's input.

I played with one around christmas. The lightest reel that I've had the pleasure to play with. I think the price tag can be justified if you really love it. I got 2 stradic that my wife now use that are from mid 90s and both still works great.

Just found the patriarch for 175 on amazon.com. I haven't held one yet but am eager to give it a whirl.
