x2 for the stradics! My FI has seen more than it's fair share of abuse and is still super smooth. Easy to disasemble for cleaning and now with the new X-ship cranking is much smoother. I've never used the patriarch but have had bad experiances with pfluger. Shimano's quality runs throughout their whole line up, but it seems to me at least that you have to spend alot of money on pflueger to get a nice reel.

    Hi
Stradic for sure I have two CI4 2500 great reels. I also have two FI 2500, if I want more line capacity I just just change the spools to the 3000 series.
If you ever need parts just call the Shimano guys in Peterborough
With the flooger not sure were to get parts

I had the same debate a few months ago. (between the patriarch / Stradic ci4) and I settled on the Stradic.

I'm extremely happy with it. Very light, handles line both fluro and braid well and pairs well with many outfits.

I already owned 2 Stradic FIs and they have treated me very well over the years.

    You won't regret the Shimano.

There's another thread on this same debate, chadder.....if I recall there were some people on that particular thread speaking up in favour of the patriarch....if you dig it up you might get a bit more insight.

I'm a giant fan of the Pflueger reels...but in this battle went with the ci4 in the 2500 size. Higher drag numbers on paper, and just felt better in my hand. Love it on my ML R-type for dropshotting...

I have an old Stradic 2000 and love it to death. It's been a great reel and I have no reason to want to change. It mates up perfectly with my Loomis SR843.
