cva muzzle loaders

Hi I am considering a new muzzle loader and been been reading up on the cva just wondering what experiances you have had? Are they as acurate as they claim with the bergara barrels? Accura,or the Apex. What loads are you shooting. Thanks

My buddy has been shooting a CVA Omega for many year and loves it. It's accurate, shots well and he's had great success with it.

He shots 275 gr Dead Centre PR bullets with 90gr of T7....

Picked up an optima magnum this past December. I'm shooting clover leafs at 200 yds with 3 whitehots behind a Barnes 245 gr spit fire mz!

Just a heads up....IMR posts the following warning:

The maximum load per shot should never exceed 120 grains (2) Pellets.

So if your using 50gr pellets, you should NEVER exceed 2 pellets.

Most guys that set up their ML's here on my range have found that less it better for accuracy. Some guys like the convenience of the pellets so they are limited, but the guys like myself who use loose powder, we found that most of our guns like about 90 grs of T7.

I was reading an article way back when I first started and it said to lay a white bed sheet out in front of the bench and see how much powder is being kicked out after you shoot. It was amazing to see as you got over 110 grs just how much is wasted.

Half the fun of this sport is adjusting the loads...never a wasted day on the range

I just looked into that link you posted and if you check into the "get muzzleloader data" link, it shows my load on there. My muzzy is a magnum, meaning I can drop 3 pellets into it. By the looks of things I ok with shooting my current load...

But then they have that disclaimer at the bottom of the page...

And you're right, there's never a day wasted at the range!

I cut and pasted the load instructions and spaced them out so you can see it better....the x3 is if you are using 30gr pellets...

The maximum load per shot should never exceed total Pellets containing more than 100 grains volume equivalent. That means, no more than:

45 Caliber 1) Two (2) 50 grain Pellets 2) Three (3) 44/45 caliber 30 grain

50 Caliber 1) Three (3) 30 grain Pellets, or 2) Two (2) 50 grain Pellets, or 3) One (1) 50 grain Pellet and one (1) 30 grain Pellet.
