    Default Ameristep tree umbrella

Picked one up from gander for 20 bucks tonight, with all the rain recently thought it might be worth a try. Any reviews?

Excellent piece of kit..I use it almost every year during Bow season late in the fall. They go up easy and keeps the rain off your head.

I've never tried it in the optional set up where you lay it in front of you for turkey hunting...suppose it would work to hide your movement to a point.

I use my tree umbrella every year during the turkey hunt. Later I put it up over my ladderstand for bear and deer. I have sat through some pretty severe downpours and not been wet. Great piece of gear in my opinion and for $20.00. A real steal for sure.

Not sure if mine is Ameristep or not. It is roughly 4'x4' square. I usually spray it with the stuff for water proofing tents and such during the summer. I think it helps on the seams to keep them from dripping.

Not sure who made mine either, but I love it and had it for years. Mine folds up like an umbrella and has a slit to tie around the tree. Great on a wet day up in a tree cl;imber.

Got on for my dad last year but he did not use it (my dad is VERY resistant to change) so it has not come out of the box. How do they hold up in the wind?

Might have to borrow it for the archery season, it would be a great addition to my spin-shot stand,

with the covered sides and the umbrella it would be like a blind in a tree

Thanks for the replies, sounds like it should allow me to sit through some rains this spring.

OK, I know this is an old thread but is there any specific brand/name that goes up easy and works really well and where do I get it? This is my last year sitting in the fricken rain/snow getting soaked.

I have a Buckwing Porta Roof.....doesn't appear they sell them anymore but you can find them on eBay....

I've had mine for many years and it's still good.
