Shopping at Sail... Weird

I guess you people do not shop at costco, they search all the bags going out their doors. And you must be a member with a card, to get in to shop. I think most stores will be going in this direction, but you could always shop on the internet.

2 words - cheap security
Time is money and they ain't got no problem wasting yours.
I have to give Costo credit though, not too many places can weasel 60 bucks out of you a year just the to go there, aside from maybe the banks.

I wonder why this thread hasnt been shut down. There was a thread a while back about someone reporting about a bad shopping experience they had at the shooters choice gun room and it got shut down very quickly. Something about not being allowed to make negative comments about businesses for fear of being sued or some nonsense. Maybe shooters choice is an OOD sponsor and sail is not?

It always been this way, just get use to it... Rules don't apply for everyone the same way!

Not sure what in this thread has been said to offend you to the point that you feel the need to start calling people with differing opinions hypocrites, but I never said I would be fine with a search at a concert. You and I must go to different kinds of shows, but I've never been searched at such an event. I guess I don't spend a lot of time in places where people try to stab eachother.

Yea..from the tone of your responce it's clear I was right way back at post #32 (below).....some of you guys are just wound a little to tight when you let something as trivila as this ruin your day.

Man some of you must live under allot of stress or have a lot of pent up anger if it's stuff like this that gets you bent out of shape....

The logical fallacy in your argument (if you can call it that) is called the 'Straw Man". Look it up, and you'll cross the 10,000 post mark a wiser man.

Oh and for the record....my pointing out that having to have your bag subjected to a search to gain access is indeed the same as having a bag subjected to a search as you leave a store...so NO it's not 'logical fallacy'. It's a direct comparison.

I agree with you. I have been to Sail many times and have yet to see them anywhere near busy. I think they may have over estimated the outdoors market. Looks like this category is "over retailed" already and someone is going to go belly up. Unfortunately its likely to be the smaller shops first.

The smaller shops will only go belly up, if people continue to shop at big box stores. IMO, the service at mom and pop places only gets better over time.

I don't see the SAILs and Bass Pros and Cabela's driving the little places out of business, except for a few mom & pop shops that are located close to the big box stores.

The fact is that the outdoor market is mostly a market for bits & pieces and consumables. Once in a while you make a big purchase like a gun; the rest of the time you're buying ammo and bootlaces and oil and so on. And I'm not driving to Niagara or Vaughan or Burlington to get those things.

Even for the big things, like a new gun, there's no reason to drive half-way across the province if the local shop has it.

I tend to hit places like Bass Pro and Cabela's when I pass through for work. And more often than not, they have nothing I want.

I have no problems with SAIL. In fact I say - put more stores here, SAILs or whatever! Not enough products and competition.

But here is my story for SAIL haters - I come to Etobicoke store and ask a guy there (who I believe is a manager) - "when is your next no-tax sale?". He makes a face and replies "no tax? this praclically NEVER happens here! That sale on opening week was one-off". Ok, I say to myself. We will see. Of course in a month or so they have a no-tax event so I come to the guy and say - "so this never happens, right?!?". There was not a slight shame on his face even though he knew he is lying aS&^$le.

Since then SAIL has another two or three no-tax sales...
