What does the mnr expect? First they acquiesce to the tree huggers armed with false scientific data and close the spring bear hunt and then waste millions with their useless bear wise program that did nothing to slow down human/bear conflicts. Now they want our help. Not a chance so far as I'm concerned.

Could it be possible that the information gathered from this, could be used to build a case for the spring bear hunt?

Equal odds on it building a case for the return of the spring bear hunt OR justifying its cancellation.

Not sure why we are spending money on more studies. Is there not enough evidence there are too many around?

Or even trying to bring in restrictions on the current hunt.

In the local paper today is says 4 permanent MNR positions in Sudbury and 1 Tech position in Espanola will be gone within 6 months. One of those positions is our biologist. Already you could fire off a bazooka in that office building and no one would hear it.
I doubt very much that any data received from the bear hunt will be actually be put to use as theres too few staff to interpret it.

It sounds like I'm not the only person around that's about had enough of the antics of the OMNR,but,if one was to "root-cause" all the nonsense, the responsibility goes right back to political and bureaucratic interference at all levels regardless of party affiliation. What do we do when we can't trust ANY of them.

There is not a hope in hell the liberals will bring back the spring bear hunt. More likely like Dythbringer said. More restrictions.

The best thing to do is not give them any data at all that they can manipulate to their advantage. And they will try, trust me on that one. Just like that useless mandatory bear questionnaire that I never filled out.

Unfortunately it's the bureaucracy that runs the show, not the responsible scientists and workers of the mnr who actually care and know more about what should actually be done in wildlife issues.

    Cheers

If the MNR bureaucracy is willing to "manipulate data to their advantage", don't you think they would also use a lack of data to their advantage?
