Woodcook are definitely still around. Yesterday 40+ woodcock flushes and 30+ grouse flushes. Didn't kill a lot of them and did shoot a few trees.

Those are some pretty good numbers, all right ... I'll be out tomorrow, braving the gales.

Thats impressive grouse guy. I flushed 9 grouse and 2 wc today, got shooting at about half of them and brought home 1 bird. I blame fumbling the safety on my new gun. lol It was a wet one but at least it was warm.

30+ grouse flushes? 40+ woodcock? You must have been flushing a bird every 10 minutes? How many hours were you out hunting?

The hunting time was probably around 4 hours in 3 different locations. The amazing thing was the last hour when we had 25 of the grouse flushes. A lot of those were in cover thick enough that a shot was not possible, but the birds were there. It was a little crazy for a while. The woodcock were in covers we have found very good flights many other times in past years.

Well, I have a new one of them, too. Nice gun but I shoot badly with it -- cast off, and I shoot left-handed.

You can have it bent but its not a cheap thing to do especially if the have to go from one extreme to the other.
