GPS collars only last abut 24 hours, I run both collars usually. Lots of identification on both. I've found and returned several hounds, and had mine returned or phoned about. We would never intentionally leave our hounds. I've had them stolen, collars disgarded. Many hounds, and senior ones aren't prone to quitting, even in slow mode. Good work for finding it, kijiji has a good lost site, you could post it there. If it is a LUP site the MNR might be able to help you out. It might not even belong to the camp you found it at.
Good luck good job.

The owner of the dog obviously values the dog to put a $200.00 tracking collar on it.
That's what I pay for mine anyway.
Good on you guys to recover the dog.
I hope everything ends well for the dog and owner alike.

A little update on this poor forgotten pooch:
One would think with radio collar on ($200/ collar) camp did not leave the dog on purpose, the big question is why no one went back on regular basis (or ask a local) to check in and see if he made it back, or ask locals and camps in the area to keep an eye open. Took him to the vets and he is not chipped once again an inexpensive solution, a collar with name (collar did read #2) and contact info for return should be mandatory or at best common sense. “Hunting Dog Runs Off” is not a news headline in November, the ones left on purpose because they are of no use is what get people going. I have friends with a hunting camp close by and they have the word out about the dog and will let me know if anyone is looking for him.
In this particular case it’s a tough one to call guys but know this, he has had a bath, no fleas, is gaining weight, and doin well.

As a hunter and dog-owner, I appreciate what you folks did to recover it. Good on all of you.
