Lake trout in 12 mile lake

I caught two nice lake trout in 12 mile lake (near minden) today. One was 18" and the other was 20" both were in the slot and went back down the hole, but I noticed both had white worn like things clinging to their back. ( they were about a 1/4" long). I have caught many trout here in the past and never seen this before. Has anyone else seen this or know what it might be. I also wonder if the inside of the fish might be full of them, and if the fish could have been eaten.

I have seen them on most of lake trout in the area, but not on the whitefish. Someone told me they are a type of parasite that get on them. I'm not sure if that is correct. I have never seen them in their stomach when filleting.

Lice. Very common and completely harmless.

They could be a freshwater lamprey (which churn up no search results... so maybe they go by a different name). We saw these on the lake trout in Mountain Lake and a CO told us that's what they were. But I don't think they pay the guy for his vast science knowledge...

I'll have to stop in at the MNR in Minden on my next trip north, to see what they can tell me

Its lice. 100%. I guarantee it. I see them all the time in Muskoka

Lice is definetly correct. No adverse effects on the fish or you....
