I think its more of a noise related issue then a hunting issue as sunday is still viewed as a day of relaxation.

This article gives a little background on the subject...

It was only in 2005 that the provincial government empowered southern Ontario municipalities to decide whether Sunday gun hunting would occur in their area.
Currently 151 municipalities in southern Ontario allow Sunday gun hunting.
The restrictions on Sunday do not apply to target shooting or hunting with a bow.
“Gun hunting was prohibited on Sundays as a way to acknowledge the traditional interest in maintaining Sunday as a day of rest and time to spend with family and friends,”
says Jolanta Kowalski, senior media relations officer with the Ministry of Natural Resources.

Personally, I'm a little torn on the issue... I understand that for many people, Sunday might be the only time they can get out to do some hunting... and for that reason, I support it. But on the other hand, such as it is still prohibited in my area.... Sunday is the only day that a fella can get out and do some bow hunting "on public lands", without small game or upland gun hunters coming through. If Sunday hunting is proposed in my area, I will support it, but for the time being, I won't be leading the charge to implement.

I was hesitant as well, a hunting partner had approached me to help him a few years ago, I got him in touch with our local OFAH Director and then I backed off. Nothing happened beyond them talking with each other. Then a year or more passed and my buddy brought it up again. I was torn, I loved bow hunting on Sundays, it was guaranteed to be quiet... but I hunt private property and am exclusive on those properties. My only concern was for one property close to a bird roost, Sunday hunting may eliminate that property for me on Sundays, I don't hunt it on Saturdays due to the waterfowlers, actually I am one of those that usually hunts waterfowl on Saturdays. The shotguns will spook deer, I have watched a doe and her fawns walking along a field edge, then some waterfowlers opened up, she spooked and took off, the gunners were at least 1/2 mile away. So this time around I helped my buddy out more. He spoke to some Councillors who he thought maybe sympathetic. I contacted the OFAH Director and then helped submit a request for a delegation to Council. I sent a letter indicating my support to Council. The weekend prior there was an outdoors show, so I sent my buddy with a petition and a wad full of posters asking guys to come out to Council to support... it was passed, we have Sunday gun hunting. It had been kept quiet, so there was no Antis present, it went smooth. I have only hunted once on a Sunday, that was because the birds hit the field before we did on a Saturday afternoon. Other guys have used the Sunday and it is nice to know we can if we want to.
