    Question Gun-dog training near Kingston.

Can anyone suggest a club or other organization that does gun-dog training near Kingston. A pointer or retrieve club that supplies birds, holds test etc would be ideal.

    Thanks!

Kingston has a Hunting Retriever Club. The president is Larry Hare I think. You can get the information of the HRC website. They hold trainings and have a hunt usually in May.

If your dog is a pointer, Ottawa Valley NAVHDA holds monthly group training days near Richmond and currently one hunt test annually.

We have two retriever clubs here in Kingston. There is the Kingston Area HRC club (www.kingstonareahrc.jimdo.com) that was already mentioned, and the Eastern Ontario Retriever Club (www.eorc.jimdo.com) which is a CKC member club. Membership fees are similar with both clubs ($25 + OFAH membership). Both clubs have access to great training property, use real birds and hold hunt tests (EORC also holds field trials). The EORC does formal training for flushing from time to time as it is a component to CKC hunt tests. The HRC has designated "upland test" that are separate from standard hunt test weekends.

I am a member and continue to train with both clubs, executive on one and past executive on the other. Feel free to contact me here or through either website (I'm web admin for both) for more details.
