Wilderness Lodge on Mount Lake (Near Elliot Lake)
We are planning on a fishing trip for a few days after the Victoria Day weekend. We are primarily interested in Speckled Trout and Lake Trout. Has anyone stayed at Wilderness Lodge or fished Mount Lake? PM me if you like.
Thanks

Hey JMatthews. There is a similar username from Chesley area over on the GBO forum...same guy? If so, nice to see another Grey-Brucer here ;-)
We moved from St. Joe's Island to Elliot Lake when I was 11 and I spent every free moment in the bush and on the water. Lots of amazing hunting and fishing opportunities up there and the Algoma Highlands to the west of Mount Lake are, in my humble opinion, the closest resemblance to heaven on earth! You'll love it there. I never fished with an outfitter or stayed at the lodge, but some times we would stop in at the restaurant on fishing and partridge hunting trips. The trout fishing in the area is fantastic. It was actually relatively common to catch 6 to 7 pound specks through the ice in some of the remote lakes that were primarily accessible only in the winter by skidoo. Not sure there are specks on the main lake but definitely lots of pike, bass, and lakers. Are you fishing any of the other nearby lakes, or staying right on Mount? Specks are close by in the rivers and nearby smaller lakes....I'm sure the folks at the lodge can provide all of this information. Enjoy that area - I certainly miss it! If you have the time take a drive westward along the Little White River.

Yes, I am the same guy. Thanks for the information. It looks like we may put off the trip until summer or early fall. I'm not really confident the ice will be off the lake by Victoria Day!
