I bought a rifle from Cabelas in the US and Prophet River looked after the exporting, importing, and registration (when it was the law). It cost me extra money, but I got a beautiful rifle that I couldn't find in Canada.

Here's another story: I once had some bullets shipped to a depot on the US side of the border. When I crossed into the US to pick them up, I told the US border guard what I was picking up. I got a stearn lecture and was informed about the fines and jail time. I was treated like I was a drug dealer. So I went to the depot and returned the bullets to sender, but that didn't stop the US Customs from stopping and searching my truck before crossing the border back into Canada. Lesson learned!
