    That's brilliant.
But one question, how do you get it out when it's time to move the hut?

A few huts have been found burned down on Simcoe this year. It wasn't the wind....

you have to wonder if someone didn't just move it for their use for the day and just left wherever they dragged it to.......

We used to invest in 5-6ft of chain with a steel crossbar on one end. The other fastened to the inside of the hut.
When we were finished for the day we would tie the bag of canned goods and minnow pail to the chain and drop it thru the hole. If it froze in we would use the spud to free it the next time we were out.
The hut had an anchor and no one seemed to bother stealing the food or minnows as they were out of sight.

Is it legal to lock your fish hut, not that it would do much good. A guy I was talking to last week said no that the mnr want them left unlocked so they can check for set lines.

They might want them left open!... But .. It is not illegal to lock YOUR HUT . ... If they think you might have a set line they will drill a hole beside your hut and put a "sweeper" type thing in and "sweep" under the ice of your hut... I leave my hut open so people can see there is nothing left in it... And with no lock ... Nobody even looks!

Ha I don,t have a permanent hut anymore, but when I had one over on Simcoe it was a bit of nightmare . If you locked it the five finger discount boys would bust off the hasp and steel all your stuff. Other option was to haul all your gear back and forth and only hook the door but then they would just look inside and leave the door open to flap around in the wind ..... Seen a sign in a store awhile ago it read. "This premises guarded by shotgun three nights a week - You guess what three", needed one of those for the hut.
