Went out to sight in my Remington 597 so my wife could start using it yesterday afternoon. As semi's are boring I decided to take my .32 Crickett Rifle. I had to play around to get it to fire, but fiddling with a BP gun is part fo the fun.

Got a nice Snowshoe hare (not sure if the pic attached or not). Aimed on the head, pulled the trigger. Hare jumped a foot in the air - done.

20 grains of Pyrodex behind a 45 gr. patched round ball went through one eye and out the other. The shot was 18 yrds through a lot of cedar branches. I could only see the top of the head (eyes, nose, ears). I know for fact that a .22 might have had deflected off the branches and not hit the target and #4 shot out of a .410 would have scattered and hit more than the head.

And my friends think I'm nuts using an "old school" gun?

I don't see a photo - would like to see your rifle. Taking any game is much more fun with black powder!

That is cool, seen that on A&E, Uteses shooting squirrels with BP for dinner. Challenge to hunter and earned with well placed shots. Well done, would love to see a picture as well.

You could always build a custom or a kit.

I had a .54 cal Tennessee Rifle from those guys, back when it was Jack Garner's company. I would dearly love to recreate that same rifle in .32 or .36 cal for small game hunting.
