No, you cannot hunt at night in ontario. Only for raccoons. If you did try your hand at breaking the law then a red light I have read is the best.

No a good comment....no one on here endorses breaking the law or giving tips on the how to...

I'm not endorsing breaking law. Is that what it sounds like? Is it considered equally inappropriate to ask a question that is regarding an illegal act? Get a grip!

When a farmer has a pest licence is he permitted to rid his property of pests during night. If he is then I would suggest using a red light. I have read they work best.

You can shoot all the coyotes you want at night, with a firearm, as long as it is in defence of property. There is an entire section under the FWCA (i think it's Sec. 31, but you can look up E-laws to be sure) that exempts you from legal discharge times if it's a nusiance animal (other than deer, moose, bear). Of course, you'd have to be able to show that the animal is in fact causing you grief. Mere presence of coyotes around livestock, and/or occupied livestock holding areas, pasturing areas, barns, etc, is grounds for nusiance removal.
eg. beef farmer, concerned with coyotes prowling around his livestock, sheep farmer who has predation, or coyotes coming around the barn - you, as an agent, can sit and spank them with your gun after dark.

You would be breaking the law if you are merely hunting them, or intentionally baiting them on a property, in the absence of an active livestock operation.

In NY state you can hunt them in the night all up to end of Feb.
i dont think that it would be wise allowing the night hunt since there is enough idiots during the day hunting with rifles and shooting toward the houses and across the roads.
