    Default Shelters

We are just a little over a month until our yearly pilgrimage to LOB. The last three years my oldest boy has come along with us and now my youngest (he's 10) is bugging me to come along. I'm all for it except for the fact that he is a bit of a fair weather outdoorsman. I can't see spending the money on a pop-up since it won't get used enough. Now the boys got an Ameristep Brickhouse for Christmas from my in-laws and it just popped into my head to use it for shelter for the young one. I haven't even had the thing out of the box yet so I have no clue what it even looks like. Has anyone out there tried this route before?

I would set it up first and see if you are able to anchor it to the ice. You many have to buy ice anchors to hold it down, so you aren't chasing it down the lake if it's windy.

I have used a pop up deer blind a few times. Works great. That is where we setup the cook stove so you also get some heat too.

I used to tie my pop up blind to the 4 wheeler... Blocks the wind a bit too

Thanks guys. I'm thinking some lag bolts with large diameter fender washers to anchor it. Hopefully be posting some pictures of the boys with some lakers and whitefish in March.
