Most gundogs who are out in the fields /woods will test positive for the bacteria. Further symptoms however only develop in about 5 %.. Vaccination against lyme disease may be indicated for dogs travelling or living in endemic areas; tick control remains the most important method to prevent infection.

PS Advantix has improved their product this year to keep ticks from even landing.

LOL No. I read ALL threads/posts but we are good friends and its hard not to use the forum as a chance to communicate. We fight occasionally too about dogs ,so we have to make up once in a while.

I enjoy your posts too. I'd be friends with you , but I can't pronounce your name.

    PS

Is it German? Russian? My family tree goes back to Germany in the 1600s. We were the Hessians who joined up with Britain to fight in the American Revolution . Hessians were mercenaries - which my husband says explains everything. Britain gave us land in 1784 in Prince Edward Country which is still in the family

I would take the Lyme test with a big grain of salt. Last time I checked, I believe S. Ontario has more than a dozen seruvars (and counting) of the disease. Our lousy, outdated Canadian test only screens a few, and usually comes back false negative for early exposures. Lots of false negatives. The same goes for the human test. Health Canada should be ashamed of itself, as our ELISA testing is so inadequate. If I suspected Lyme and got a negative from Canadian testing, I'd do what thousands of Canadians are doing now - get your blood drawn and get it couriered to the states for the proper Western Blot test.

Sharon, vom Dufenshmirtz is the name of my kennel. I used to be known here is h&t and we ARE (electronic) friends ))))
The kennel name is of German tradition (considering my German breed). Vom means from and pronounced as [fom].

Don't ask Vom too many questions. Obviously he is in the witness protection plan and has to change names every now and then.....he does have a nice dog though
