Powder Choice Replacement for 4759
I have been a fan of 4759 for my 10ML-II since the first time I tried it. This started with the 1/2lb cans. Now the formulation has changed and comes in 1lb plastic containers. I’ve had to alter the load to regain the velocity I originally liked.
Just getting nicely adjusted with the new formulation now the 4759 powder is being discontinued, nuts.
Like others I hope to get a small stock pile of this powder to last for a little while longer but eventually will need to explore other avenues for powder choice.
So the question I’m posing to 10ML-II owners is do you have a powder choice consideration in mind for possible replacement for 4759?

5 of the 6 guys in our moose camp use Savage 10MLII guns. We also all shoot exactly the same load of 4759. Looks like we will either have to stock up or switch. Where did you read they were dropping 4759?

Picked up on another website dedicated to SML.
The indication is that not only 4759 but also included will be 4756 and 7625.

Hope you don’t mind me asking about your source for N120 and if N110 is also available from your source. So far I have not been able to locate a source for N110.

Maybe a few people in the same approximate area could split a large container. Hummanson still has 12 lbers for $226. The 5lb containers are sold out there.

That is still a heck of a deal at $18.83 a pound!
Last time I bought this powder I paid $33 pound locally.

1st thanks for responding to my query.
2nd thanks for your generous offer but you’re not close enough for a next door run. Hard to say when I might be in your neck of woods as I’ve not been in the area for some time.
I’ve got a few alternate plans to try but may not be kosher to present here, at least not until I’ve done my own testing with some tangible evidence.
At one time 4227 was a recommended powder by Savage but when it was discovered the ignition of this powder was finicky at times they took it off their recommended list. Even I experienced this condition when I first started out. Since that time gone by I have modified my BP to put a little more kick into the ignition delivery from the primer so this may prove to be an asset.
Will just have to wait till spring and see what initial tests reveal.
