Sorry to hear about your pup B.W. Had to put down a few good friends over the years. It doesn't get any easier. What breed is your new pup?

Thats what the vet said it was, telescoping intestine... The operation was over 4,000, and only a slim chance of recovery. He really got under our skin, big time.

So sorry on the loss of your pup. They wind their way quickly into our hearts and to lose one so soon is terrible. I am glad that the breed replaced your pup though. Hope all goes well with this one.

Awful hard decisions. I had a big running GSP that got fully - covering cataracts . $2000. per eye plus no promises they wouldn't return. Dog hated being a couch potato and when in the backyard would run into trees , fence etc- opened up its' side twice. I decided I had to put him down , but it was very painful decision.

It never gets easier even after all these years. I had to put one of my hounds down this fall. A bear took a swipe at the dog and tore his back open real bad. The vet said he would live and survive the operation but with so much muscle tissue damaged and tore away he would never be the same. Couldn't stand to see him sitting in the kennel watching the other dogs go and him wondering why he couldn't.

Nice to see the breeder step up and replace the pup. Don't hear stuff like that too often. Enjoy them while they are with you. Much too short for my liking...

Nothing worse than a sick animal... We had to put down our beagle earlier than we ever anticipated... She ended up with a growth in her intestines. Even if she'd been operated on and everything went as well as it could, the risk for infection was really high, the surgery was risky and there was a likely potential that it regrow. (She kept getting these warty looking growths here and there that just kept getting bigger and bigger. We'd had some on her face removed but they came back.) She really wasn't ready to go but we couldn't put her through a risky surgery only to have her suffer more. Pains me just thinking about it...

Sharon: How did Tessa do with her surgery yesterday?

Blackwolf, sorry to hear your sad news. The new pup will help cheer up the household (except the cats maybe). Your breeder really looked after you.
