35wailin - congratulations to the young fella. My boy is coming up 10. I bought him a Henri Mini-Bolt. Now he is pestering his mother for another rifle (I know, it really belongs to me until he can legally own it)

Another way to reduce the load is to use a lighter bullet as well. I have been trying to do the same thing for a friend that has a 300 Win Mag that he now won't shoot because he doesn't like the recoil. I loaded some Hornady 125 Gr SST's, he seems much happier but boy to they ever come out fast...
