Tobe eligible dog’s must have a placement in an Open Derby or Open All Age Stake

Me too.
Just spoke to the trial chairman in RI & they're going to have to move their trial back a week due to weather conditions.
If we have to cancel again this year it may be the end. It would be a shame after 25 years.

That would be a shame.

Most of the Michigan coverdog clubs have alternate dates but we still have a month so everyone has their fingers crossed.

I know some of the clubs that have walking quail trials coming up in the next couple weeks are talking about pushing them back or canceling them.

I'm out of the loop here but why are Ontario Grouse Championships held in PA if it's a Canadian event ? And the next question why in US funds only if it is Canadian no matter what the exchange is ?

Tim can answer this much better than I , but it has to do with the event struggling in ON for a couple years for a variety of reasons , so rather than cancel it altogether when it was very popular , it was moved to PA - more grouse there too. Tim has been the backbone of this event for 25 years and deserves tremendous credit.
Not to mention judging American Field trials in ON for many years and helping many a newbie , including me.

I still remember the day my dog screwed up 5 minutes into the trial. Most judges would have said "pick up your dog". Tim said nothing. I knew I was out of a placement but Tim let me finish the course. It meant a lot to me.

First there are no suitable grounds here in Ontario any more.
Second there is not the people support here that there once was. Wild bird trials take huge amounts of time and effort to plan and run.
When we lost our grounds here friends in PA stepped up and offered their grounds and their time to be sure the championship didn't disappear.
Since it is now run in PA all expenses are paid in US currency,and the vast majority of entries come from the US it only makes sense to run it using US $.
