    Default Wilson's "Sleek" Cell Booster

We made the decision tonight at a camp-meeting to move ahead and buy a Wilson's "Sleek" cell booster for the hunt camp. Before we drop the buck and actually make the purchase (tomorrow); can anyone provide feedback on this for the Denbigh area? Do they work?

At our camp, the closest usable signal is about 20 minutes away, we have enough signal for intermittent 3G/4G connections at various spots around the camp on the property - but nothing we can ever maintain a solid connection with. Usually, you don't even know you've got service until you get incoming emails or something, and by then you've moved on and lost the service.

On another note; bought 4 new Moultrie A-5 cams tonight, got a great deal from a local fella - brand new, in box for $40 each. Can't wait to get them set up

This the unit? I've been curious about how well they work as well. Closest service is 15 min drive by ATV

I'm going to buy one from Canadian Tire, I think they're about $150 - something like that, I need one quick, heading up to the hunting camp for a week with two of my young ones.

Will let everyone know how they work in our area.

If it doesn't work, Canadian Tire is good with returns at least

My friend had one last weekend, he paid 140 and we were 26 miles in the bush. Worked great. Oh yes, he clipped that little aerial about 6 feet up

Yes they work, we run them up here in the North were reception is spotty at best in certain areas. Full 3G on the booster, no signal off it.

As note, like any RF signal, the higher you can get the unit into the trees the better. We are considering a booster too for another application. I found a design online that provides a shopping list of component and a 'How To'.
I suspect you may be able to find the same for a cell phone booster. The hard part would probably be finding a Local Oscillator tuned to the right frequency. If you can solder, follow a diagram and connect wires there are other options other than buying off-the-shelf. The DIY option would allow for more power...

I was looking into these a little while ago. The reviews online were pretty good. I believe Costco has them for around $100

Looks like the membership at Costco and the unit would be similar to the price at Canadian Tire, and you have the membership for other things in the future.

Any chance you could share the DIY plans?
