.50 R.E.A.L Bullet Making
Nice snowy day, decided to try out the new lead pot and Lee 250 gr dies. Made a total of 136 bullets and only 20 failed inspection. Pushed them thru LEE .501 sizing and Aloxed them up to dry overnight. Lead bullets do scrape with my fingernail. Should be fun to shoot

I'm going to be trying that this summer with my .45 ball...I'll have to get some pointers the next time we meet up.
The guy who sold me the gun threw in a bunch of lead, the moulds and kit to make those bullets but I haven't tried them. I've since picked up a .45 ball mould so I probably will go that route due to the twist rate on the .45.
Looks like a successful afternoon though Mark !!!...I'll have to get the range set up so you can swing by and test them

Yes we can do that and I will bring lead pot if you don't have one. I also have 175 1lbs lead bars. That run was 7 bars and with the left over melt, sprue tops and rejected bullets it should be a 1/4 pot. 116 bullets from about 6lbs of lead. Nice...getting excited to shoot them with BP and learn your shotgun techno for BP.

Nice set up. I have a 50 cal. 320 gr REAL mold. If you ever want to try them out shoot me a PM with your mailing address and I'll send you some. I didn't get the greatest accuracy with them and Huntaway tried them too and didn't do all that well. They sure make big holes though!
I used to have a 250 gr REAL mold but sold it with my T/C New Englander (stupid move!).

Do not drop them on to a hard surface , use an old towel or such.

I had about 15 shop towels moistened to drop them in.

Pete the 250 mold was only $41.00 at Higgsson about 3 weeks ago. Love the pot, had it set on 7 and it only took about 15 minutes to melt down 7 bars. I did drip a bit and I tried adjusting the screw, but it never really stopped. Good fun though.

most of my commercial slugs are 320gr as well, interested to see what performance I get from these. I can make you up a couple hundred if you like. Next time your in town stop by and ick them up. I will take some of the 320's as well. I also will going 4/5th april on the sat to gun show in Carp. we could meet there as well.
