Default $16,400 in Fines and Hunting Suspensions

For those that haven't seen this yet. I'm glad they nailed these guys but I can't believe that just two of the guys only received a ONE year hunting suspension. That's not very much of a deterrent in my opinion considering the seriousness of the infraction.

I agree with you Smitty, probably never covered the investigation costs.

If somebody had a guilty conscience and spilled the beans on what went down, good on them. If this was the result of somebody opening their big mouth, thanks.

How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?

Any successful conviction should immediately have the cost of the investigation, courts, etc as the vase fine. Then the fine per charge on top.

Glad they got caught ... like you said Woody ... the fines wouldn't even come close to the cost of the investigation. Should have been steeper fines!

Being an ethical hunter means you do the right thing when no one is watching, 5 year suspension of the hunting privileges, hefty fine covering having to investigate and court costs. For years 6 thru 10 they have to advise the ministry where they will be hunting so they can be checked at will.
