Modified choke. No need for fancy chokes with flite control ammo.

I purchased the Remington Turkey Super Full choke for my 870, but I have not gotten out to pattern it yet. Have to locate some crown land in the next few weeks.

I noticed that some chokes are ported (have holes) near the end, has anybody noticed a difference between ported and non ported tubes.

    Primos Jellyhead in .665 (870 12g) with #6 lead.
The .660 Jellyhead is popular down south where #7 shot is legal, but in my experience it blows out the pattern with the #6 we're allowed up here.

The absolute best patterns, as many posters here and in other forums mention are those shot out of the premium quality Indian Creek and Pure Gold chokes. As always, individual patterning with a variety of loads determines the best combination.

I for one, have not splurged on an expensive choke yet and still use budget and/or factory chokes. Shot a few birds using my original Browning BPS Invector Full with great success at ranges just over 30 yards. Have since switched over to the Primos Tightwad and have patterned it extensively and feel comfortable enough to take shots up to 50 yards.

Agreed, works fine out of my 50 year old humpback.
