Max (Sparky) has been returned to his original owner, successful conclusion with both hunters and non hunters working together.
Brief History:
Two dogs went missing during the deer hunt, both with two tracking Collars. When the run that day was completed, the dogs signal from collars could not be found for either dog. They suspect the dogs were removed from the area. The owners started to look for them that day, and subsequently contacted the camps in this area. My hunt camp is about 5mi from where the dog was found and I was contacted. As well numerous local people and trappers from the area were contacted. The owner advised me that Max was the best hound he has ever owned a family pet and is over 10 yrs old. Max has never failed to return to their camp. The owner of Max and his family are good hunters, look after there dogs very well and are good people. They contacted the dog shelters in Cloyne, Cooper and Bancroft before going home from the hunt. Numerous trips were made to their camp and they recovered the other dog. The owners of Max found his collars at their camp a couple days after he was recovered by Jay and were very confused of what had happened to him and probably thought he had met his demise. They continued looking for Max.
ATVers found the Max at the camp but were unable to bring the dog out. Jay (JBird) heard about the dogs and with another AtVer took the day off work and went in and recovered Max. Jay was able to find Max thanks to Dave's (Mudhole ATV site) GPS co- ordinates and map. Jay spent considerable time and money in the next 4 mths, returning Max to good health. This was done out of Jay and his family's compassion and caring of dogs and all animals. It is unfortunate that I did not read about Max being lost until this week. I phoned and spoke with the owners granddaughter and the owner and advised Max was in good health but had been re-homed. The owner advised that he would really like the dog back. I went on this thread and thanks to Rick, Jay contacted me later that night. We exchanged emails and talked on the phone. Jay set up an exchange of emails between Paula (adopted Max/Sparky) and myself and then we talked on the phone. Paula and her family adopted a older hound out of their compassion and caring of dogs. The son of, and granddaughter of the original owner all phoned me over the next couple of days. The owner of Max drove to Kingston and recovered his dog. I know Max is being returned to a good home. As another reader had commented it could have got ugly, but Paula stated that if the situation was reversed she would have wanted her dog back. Paula and her family grew very fond of Max in a short time, and I believe that returning him was harder on her the she let on.
Jay, Paula and their families are good people. They are kind, caring and compassionate.
I wonder how far Max may have traveled to return to his camp, as the first time they tried to use him he would begin his journey home. They other dog was younger and made it back a bit faster. Thanks to Jay, Paula and all the other people that assisted in Max/Sparky's return home. As one comment stated, it was quite an event. Thanks Gary
PS I am going to meet up with Jay this coming July and probably have a beer.

More info on lost but rescued dog
As a hound lover and someone who has had one of my beagles taken by someone else (radio collar and name tags intact) it's great to hear the owner got his dog back. Sounds like honest, caring people on all ends of this story.
In my situation, I had a crying wife at home due to our missing dog and then one of the home owners of a door I knocked on called and said he remembered seeing a truck pick up a beagle. Got the information on the truck and found my dog.
