Default Fleas and Ticks again- EDITED

Started the Advantix 55 ,( weight for my dogs), April 1. Once green blades of grass start to appear , the fleas emerge/hatch. Don't wait too long folks to decide what you are going to use/or not.

vet said it would kill all, yet they will say anything, we where in heavy deer tick area and maybe it was luck but he didn't get any on him. As you could imagine i skeptical at any new product, yet on that note advantix iv heard works.

Vet needs to review his brochures. Revolution only kills all form of fleas, one kind of mites and several kinds of worms+ dog ticks

Revolution: fleas, ear mites , some worms, used for mange sometimes ( sarcoptic mites), kills wood /dog ticks only - not the deer tick that causes lyme disease

advantage 2: newest product, no tick protection, kills fleas at all life stages and lice, waterproof

advantage multi : fleas, mosquitoes, many kinds of worms( see below), mites, no tick protection. Often used for mange.

advantix 2 : all kind of ticks( including deer/Lyme) lice, and repels mosquitoes, kills fleas before eggs are laid, mosquitoes, flies incl. blackflies, waterproof with correct shampoo, different colored boxes /numbers on the box, according to the dog's weight

Heartguard/heartguard + : preventative , used in conjunction with other preventatives. HEARTGUARD kills tissue larval stages of heartworms and helps prevent them from developing into adults and causing heartworm disease.Treatment starts in June.

"advantage multi® is indicated in dogs for the prevention ofcardiovascular dirofilariosis (heartworm disease) caused by Dirofilariaimmitis and for the treatment and control of parasitic infestations causedby the adult stage of the common flea, Ctenocephalides felis, earmites (Otodectes cynotis), sarcoptic mange mites (Sarcoptesscabiei var. canis), and as an aid in the treatment and control of generalizeddemodectic mange (Demodex canis).
advantage multi® is also indicated for the treatment and control of parasiticinfections caused by the developing L4, the sexually immature adult and theadult stages of hookworms (Ancylostoma caninum and Uncinariastenocephala), the adult stage of ascarids (Toxocara canisand Toxascaris leonina) and as an aid in the treatment and control of whipworminfections caused by the adult stage of Trichuris vulpis." quote

disclaimer : I am not a vet. Over the years this is what I have learned from myvet , but everyone should ask their own questions to their vet.

Some folks choose to use no pesticides on their dogs. I respect their decision.

I thought Revolution worked on the dog tick, but not on deer ticks?
