They can participate if not registered with FDSB , but for dogs to receive credit for their field trial placements, they must be registered with the Field Dog Stud Book/ AF

Easy to register with the FDSB if your dog is registered with the AKC , but the FDSB does not recognize CKC registrations for dogs born in Canada.

If your dog is not AF registered you can still run him or her, still get your ribbon and bragging rights but you won't get a win certificate or anything of the sorts.
You absolutely can register a CKC dog with the field, the fee is $34.00 Send a photocopy of a 3 generation CKC pedigree as well as this form (the certificate for owner of dam need not be completed).

When did that happen Spence? I couldn't get my CKC registered dog , registered with the AF. Or maybe it only goes one way- CKC to AF but not AF to CKC ??

Your link doesn't say anything about CKC.

You are correct, as it stands the CKC does not recognize AF/FDSB registries however we are working to change that.

The link has nothing to do with the CKC, it is a FDSB application for registration. Attach a photocopy of the 3 generation CKC pedigree in lieu of dam certificate or other FDSB specific items along with the 34.00 fee.

Really glad to hear that. Good for you. If that got changed it would be a boon to AF trials.

My self and Rookie will be entering our first field trial on the 19th this month in London.
Looking forward to see dogs doing what they were breed to do, HUNT !!!
Just returned from Creek Haven ,Spencer as usual gave me some great tips and of course Rookie had a great time.
Hopefully others will participate, should be fun seeing other dogs and of course others like me who love upland hunting with their bird dogs.
If you see a pointer not heeling and pulling his master around the facility its probably me, Dave.

Ended up being a real small trial, but the coolest part was we had 4 first time field trialers and lots of family and kids out as well! A big congrats to "that a boy" on placing his fantastic young pointer second in the puppy classic! The shooting dog classic was very special, the winner was a terrific young GSP from New York state, a dog I've had a chance to watch develop the last few years under the guidance of my field trial partner Jeff Phelps from Darien, NY.

Don Elliot puppy classic winners right to left: 1st - Spitfire's Patrick, Jeff Phelps owner and handler, 2nd - Rookie, David Miotto owner and handler, 3rd - Creek Haven Luke, Mario Moras owner, Spencer Ray handler.

    G. Bailie Shooting Dog Classic winners right to left: 1st - Spitfire's Brady, Chad downs owner, Jeff Phelps handler, 2nd - Spitfire's Jack Spencer Ray owner and handler, 3rd - Spitfire's Auggie Dog Jeff Phelps owner and handler.
