Our deer are still not out of the yard, but further south all seems normal with a couple each day....

There have been quite a few between Barrys Bay and Ottawa. Can't blame it on the deer though. Drivers are getting less aware of their surroundings. I have followed a number of people in the last few weeks that drive by deer standing ten feet off the road and don't even notice (or care) the deer are there. I understand that every now and then a deer collision is unavoidable but there could be a lot more avoided day to day.

With the deep snow and it softening up they will travel where it is easier for them to get around. Unfortunately being herded up and when they do get up on the roadways it's like a train sometimes, and if people dont pay attention collisions will happen.

They are attracted to the road edges where salt has accumulated over winter, they also start moving from winter range to new areas around now.

In a lot of cases people do not realize how close to subdivisions deer actually are its a shame

Is it wrong of me to hope for a deer collision? My freezer is kinda empty....

I haven't seen any collisions yet this year, weird considering most of the deer are out of their wintering grounds
