    Anyone else thinking of taking advantage of the hunt and are the hides better in the spring than they are in the fall?
    Fratri....just closed the deal with a guide outfit yesterday Sunday but depends what you mean by" break the bank " 2 bated stands per hunter looking at 1000.00 $$$ for a week found the price very comparable to many others I spoke to make some calls and check them out this is in the Field aria North Bay about 4 1/2 hr drive for me
    Good Luck (;

    I was looking forward to participate in the spring hunt but when I looked into renting a stand for the weekend and couldn't find one cheaper then 800 bucks I decided that I wasn't that interested.

    The amount of work that goes into finding a good place, and heading out preparing the bait, checking up on it etc...Its alot of work and I came to the realization that anything less then 700-800$ isnt worth it for the guides.

    Wickeyhunter ......just a heads up when I was talking to the operators I was offered the option to pay on a daily bases as well or by the week the place is called Camp Horizon . What I liked was I was able to use there services as a single hunter very nice people most of the outfitters I talked to needed a group of 4 or more my friends are all working and not able to get the time off

    hope this helps you right now they are not fully booked

    Percey i`m with you most hunters do not realise the amount of work and money the operators put into the pre-hunt .

    you are 100% right pearcey most people have no clue on how much money and time it takes to run a bear hunt.
    and with the price of gas $145 there is no money
    Bear Hunting in Ontario is under priced...we should start charging like out West...average $3000/ for bear hunt

    I guess they must have gotten a few more clients as I just got off the phone with them, no more room at the inn.....Unfortunately they are full and not taking anymore for the spring hunt....

    Thanks for the help though, best of luck to you.
