Is the hunt even going to happen? Unless the outfitters know something I don't...
I called the MNR today because there has been absolutely NO information regarding the hunt, and its proposed opener of May 1st. When I spoke with the MNR agent she indicated that they haven't been able to publish anything because the hunt is currently waiting for a judicial ruling. She has been provided no information by the higher-ups as to whether the hunt was actually going to happen or not. They are hopeful to have a ruling by the end of this week or next week.
Does anybody have ANY other information???????

TORONTO -- Two animal rights groups are taking the Ontario government to court in an attempt to stop the planned spring bear hunt before it begins.
Animal Alliance of Canada and Zoocheck Canada have filed an application for judicial review and a notice of constitutional question, which are set to be heard in court on April 29.
The government says a pilot project to reinstate the spring bear hunt will start May 1 and run for six weeks in eight wildlife areas known for having the most public safety incidents involving bears.
The animal rights groups are hoping the court will at least delay the start of the hunt until it can rule on their legal actions.
No thoughts about the hunters ; the outfitters ; the smaller community's that depend on the seasonal cash infusions of hunters ; fishermen ; vacationers that are a large part of the of the economy of these community's

A final decision has NOT been made by the government regarding the pilot spring bear hunt. We should have more information in approximately one week. The government will issue a media release to inform the public of their decision.
If you require further assistance, please contact the Natural Resources Information Centre at 1-800-667-1940.

I really feel that the ministry has enough to justify this pilot project. I hope this is just some chest puffing put on by these animal activist wankers. How about we take 8 full grown bears and let them loose downtown Toronto. See how cute and cuddly they are then.

Shawn I found that post strange as well I spoke to Tim and his wife on Sunday last weekend and I was told there were lots of openings for the spring hunt the member said he called the camp and he was told there were no openings
But with the court challenge being held on the 29 April 2 days before the opening of the spring bear hunt this timing could change things
