Thought this might be of interest to some ML shooters.
Now that Federal is entering the ML market it will be interesting to see how well their first offering does.

I love the technology, seems like a great answer to a problem in some states, however some the rules are very explicit....like this excerpt from the Oregon regs:

"Muzzleloader" is any single-barreled (double-barreled shotguns are permissible) long gun meant to be fired from the shoulder and loaded from the muzzle with an open ignition system (cap or flint exposed to the elements) and open or peep sights. Open ignition in-line percussion, sidelock, under-hammer, top-hammer, mule ear percussion, flintlock and wheellock guns are allowed.


During any hunt series with a season designation ending in "M" and certain 600 series hunts, the following rules apply to muzzleloader ammunition and loading:

It is illegal to hunt with jacketed bullets, sabots and bullets with plastic or synthetic bases. It is illegal to hunt with pelletized powders. It is illegal to hunt with centerfire primers as the ignition source. It is illegal to use scopes, fiber optic sights and other sights that use artificial light or enhance and gather or concentrate natural light.

It would seem that this new bullet may not be allowed as it has a synthetic base.

I was actually surprised at how restrictive the ML regs are in Oregon...limits you to basically the Old fashioned Hawken type, open sights, patch/ball and conical......might not be a bad thing

They will be on my list too. I will be trying out some PR stuff this year as well.

Yes if someone was going to fling lead at targets it would definitely get costly. If they do their job well and are as slick as they are touted as being they'll be well worth the price of a few bullets a year.

Yea I guess, if you restrict them to a 'hunting' bullet...5 or 6 a year to zero and 1 to hunt with and get 3 yrs out of a pack

I like to plink all year, I burned thru a dozen .45 balls just yesterday alone, I buy them for $10 per 100.

Thats why I want to grab try out some PR bullets. I would like to spend more quality shoulder time with my ML. Shooting Hornady or Barnes bullets all day will deplete my paycheque to nothing pretty quick. Although I find myself to be quite proficient with my ML there is always room for improvement. After annoying a CO this week with a bunch of questions I'm thinking of picking up another identical ML to use for rabbit or whatever while it is legal.

As for the new bullet I'm all for trying new technology. If performance warrants a change, I'm not stuck in the mud that I wouldn't change.
