One down!
Got my first 2014 turkey Sat. morning. Set up in the middle of a thick woods, back against a nice tree. It so happened what sounded like 12 or 15 birds where roosted within 100 yrds of me. They treated me to a symphony of turkey sound, all sorts gobbles and clucks, tree yelps. I swear I could almost hear their feathers shake on some of the gobbles. Around 6.30 they all come out of the trees and start to carry on on the ground. I could not see them but I was yelping and cutting to them and they were answering me. I felt confident some would work towards me. While listening to these birds heard a faint gobble behind me. Sounded like 500 yrds or so away. After a few more calls and the real birds answering the gobble behind me sounded much closer. So with the live birds in front of me calling and an unseen bird coming from behind me I put my pot call down and got my gun up and ready. In just a few minutes I twisted slowly around my tree to check out my 6 o'clock position and there were 2 toms in strut, 15 yrds from me. I slowly brought my gun to shoulder and settled on one's head and it was all over! 9 inch beard, 3/4 inch spurs, 21 lbs. Tagged him exactly at 7 am. Happy walk back to the car.

Pretty exciting when theres yhst much action all around. Congrats on the success.
How is it one careless cigarette can cause a forest fire, but it takes a whole box of matches to light a campfire?
