Turkey Eggs
Was out for my first hunt of the season with a buddy this morning , had the pleasure of trying to work a tom into are set up but hung up along the fence line gobbling back and forward an just wouldn't commit for 20 mins or so.
On the way back to the truck found a clutch of 6 eggs all raided from something . This is the first time I've seen eggs let alone all busted .Is this early or normal ,for this time of year ?

It's pretty much normal. They will lay up to 15 eggs before the hen starts to incubate them. Unfortunately, nests being raided is all too common as well. Possums, skunks and coons are hard on eggs.

I've seen poults out and about the last few days of the season. It takes about 28 days to incubate the eggs, once they all have been laid.
If a hen lays 13- 15 eggs, at one egg per day, then it's normal to have nests with eggs now.

I imagine just about any forest critter would have a meal of those. I've even heard of deer gettin at them - not sure of the truth in that though.
