Training Birds North Bay Area
I will be moving to the North Bay Area shortly. Originally lived in London. Finding training birds (chukar, pheasant) to train my GSPs was quite easy. Now that I will be moving, I was wondering if anyone knew of a place or someone who raises/sells pheasant, chukar, quail or pigeon within an hour or so of North Bay. Getting a new GSP pup.
Thanks.

You could give these guys a call. No idea if they'll sell them to an individual though. Looks like they have Coturnix quail.

The good news about North Bay is wild birds are everywhere. You wont have an issue putting the pup on ruffies or spruce grouse.

Forget the pen raised birds. Put pup loose on wild birds and let the birds teach the lessons for the first 8+ or - months. He'll learn he can't catch them and start hesitating > creeping> holding. Then it's time for the CC /e collar. Lucky man.

Drive a little North to the Red Squirrel road and work the trails that come off it. Tons of wild grouse.
I’m suspicious of people who don't like dogs, but I trust a dog who doesn't like a person.

Thanks for the tips! I definitely look forward to the expanded opportunities for Grouse hunting. If Red Squirrel Road is anything like the bush and trails around Pozniak's Road, then I am sure it is packed full of ruffies.
