Female Small Mouth at the end of my dock, the nest is just to the left of the dock post. Same spot for the last 3 years. It's a chore to keep the neighbors kids from trying to catch it.

This is a dumb thread. Is this all we have to worry about in our lives?

I'm far more concerned with anglers throwing spinnerbaits in three foot of water trying to catch bass for C/R then the odd angler who hits one accidentally and snaps a quick shot, specially if they are respectful of the fish and a quick release...

Has too much time on their hands
This time of year I'm not deliberately targeting bass - I'm after sunfish, rock bass, pike with my fly rod. If I catch a bass I quickly release it. Given that I've been fishing the same water for 15 years and the bass population hasn't been hurt I don't think I'm doing any harm. Actually, given that I'm thinning out the rock bass I believe I'm helping.

Werner is just trying to point out the law so people are aware.
You would be surprised by the number of people who don't realize it isn't Bass season and even more surprised the number that don't know it is illegal to even stop and take a photo of a OOS.
Second of you don't like the thread I don't believe anyone is forced to participate in said thread.

Is that on Mink Lake? Looks very familiar.
Usually one nests near the end of my dock near some rocks that I run the waterline out to.

Rock bass are good eating and less bones than a pike...but I eat both. When bass season opens, I'm not beyond eating them too if I can't catch other fish.
Re damaging the population - it's not whether one or two guys do it, but if everyone did it, you could wipe the bass out of small lakes like Mink, Dore, Golden in a hurry. They nest in small well known areas and are easy to sight-fish and catch.

I have a "fancy" bass boat and I have had guys pull up and blast me while I'm pike fishing assuming I was targeting OOB. frack one guy blasted and cussed me up and down and I was tossing a spoon. All I am saying is don't equate a "Shiny" boat with a poacher. I have been tempted to cut the hook off a 2 ounce jig to ward off amateur game wardens LOL
